Jennifer Bowen, Second Vice President, Account Manager & Valuation Actuary, ASA, MAAA Exit Re / Swiss Re Life & Health America Inc. Jennifer Bowen has worked in the financial services industry for 28 years. She joined Swiss Re in August 2004 to indulge her passion for managing complex discontinued blocks of business. At Jefferson Pilot Financial, Jennifer developed a framework for risk-based audit-planning that could also serve as a starting point for formalized ERM. As a founding member of the SOA 's Risk Management Task Force, she helped create the ECCA (Economic Capital Calculation & Allocation) Specialty Guide and heads the working group currently developing the ERM Specialty Guide. |

John C. Burkett, Actuary, FCAS, PhD St Paul Travelers Companies Inc. As a senior consultant with Aon's Actuarial and Analytics Practice, John Burkett consults on a variety of projects including those pertaining to ERM. Throughout his extensive career, he has served in various financial services roles. As leader of a small group within St Paul 's small commercial operations, John addressed strategic issues predominantly focused on the underwriting side of insurer operations. In his role as a senior ALM analyst for Conning Asset Management, John constructed company specific dynamic financial analysis models to develop investment strategies for various clients. Strategic issues addressed through these models included asset allocation, capital adequacy, capital allocation, and reinsurance. John has PhD and MS degrees in Applied Mathematics from the University of Florida, a BS in Mathematics from Palm Beach Atlantic University, and is also a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. |

David William Dickson, Actuarial Project Manager, FSA, MAAA GE Insurance Solutions In his role as project manager for GE 's Insurance Solutions Actuarial Department, David Dickson 's focus includes the application of the Six Sigma methodology to operational risk issues. He is a GE DMAIC Master BlackBelt & DFSS trainee. Prior to his current role, David was a US medical insurance actuary serving in the primary and reinsurance markets in roles including Chief Actuary, Chief Underwriter, and Marketing Actuary. David currently serves on the Governance Committee of the Board of Governors of the SOA and has previously served on SOA 's Long Term Care Section Executive Committee, the American Academy of Actuaries Transition Rules Work Group (re: Health Security Act of 1993), and the NAIC Small Group Health Insurance Reform Industry Committee. He holds a BA in mathematics from Knox College. |

Dave Ingram, Consulting Actuary, FSA, MAAA, FRM, PRM Milliman As a consulting actuary in Milliman 's New York office, Dave Ingram specializes in advising the financial services industry on risk management matters including ERM systems, hedging strategies, economic capital, RAROC reporting, counterparty risk assessment, ALM and earnings volatility as well as mergers and acquisitions, demutualizations, market conduct lawsuit settlements, and other matters. Prior to joining Milliman, Dave had more than 20 years of actuarial and general management experience in the life insurance industry. As a frequent speaker and author, Dave brings his risk management expertise to many SOA, GARP, PRMIA and RIMS meetings and publications. He is chairperson of both the SOA Risk Management Task Force and the SOA Risk Management Section. |

Valentina Isakina, Consultant,

As staff actuary for the SOA 's Finance Practice Area, Valentina Isakina serves as an internal staff consultant on content issues for various SOA initiatives – domestic and international – related to the finance, investment, and risk management areas of expertise. Her primary responsibility is to coordinate the SOA activities addressing the advancement of actuarial knowledge and professional recognition in the arena of financial applications and risk management. Prior to joining the SOA, Valentina was with the New York office of Milliman, involved in various consulting projects, mainly in the areas of restructuring and demutualizations. Prior to Milliman, she was a part of the US home office actuarial staff of Canada Life in the group financial reporting and pricing area. Valentina holds a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance with honors, and a Master's degree in Actuarial Science - both from the Risk Management Department of Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, Atlanta. She is currently pursuing a Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Valentina is a frequent guest speaker at industry meetings and symposia and author of several articles on various topics published by the SOA. |

Don Mango, Director of Research and Development, FCAS, MAAA GE Insurance Solutions Don Mango is Director of Research and Development for GE Insurance Solutions. Don leads the development of state-of-the-art capital, risk and pricing models and methodologies. He also publishes and presents at numerous industry conferences, further solidifying GE ERC 's position as a risk analytics powerhouse and industry thought leader. Don is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He is also Vice President of Research and Development for the CAS through 2005. Don is also involved with the SOA as a member of its Strategic Planning Committee and a member of the Marketplace Relevance Strategic Action Team. |

Max Rudolph, Vice President & Actuary, FSA CFA FLMI RHU MAAA Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company Max J. Rudolph is a vice president and actuary with Mutual of Omaha. His work is focused on ALM, liquidity risk, capital management and other related projections for a life insurance company. Mr. Rudolph frequently presents and writes on these topics for various symposia, seminars, and publications within the insurance industry. A past chair of the SOA's Investment Section, Max is currently a member of the SOA Board of Governors, a leading member of SOA 's Risk Management Task Force, chair of the SOA 's Finance Practice Area Professional Education and Development Committee, and President of the Nebraska Actuaries Club. |

Prakash A. Shimpi, Global Practice Leader - Enterprise Risk Management, FSA, CFA Towers Perrin Prakash Shimpi recently became a global practice leader for ERM with Towers Perrin. Previously, through his company, Fraime LLC, Prakash provided finance, risk and investment management expertise to corporate managers. He is also a visiting scholar at Wharton, London School of Economics, Peking University and the International Center for Financial Asset Management & Engineering (FAME) in Geneva. Until June 2003, Prakash was President & CEO of Swiss Re Financial Services Corporation, where he formed the structured finance and capital markets groups, pioneering the development of insurance-linked securities, multi-trigger products and contingent capital. While at Swiss Re, he also edited and authored Integrating Corporate Risk Management, which introduced the ‘Insurative Model’ as an elegant way to connect the often separate disciplines of corporate finance and risk management. Prior to Swiss Re, Prakash was MD in Chase Manhattan Bank’s Global Insurance Corporate Finance group, responsible for ALM and derivatives. Before that he was Manager of Insurance Portfolio Strategies, Drexel Burnham Lambert, where he co-developed the ALM methodology, ‘Realized Return Optimization’. Prakash earned a BS in Economics and Statistics and an MS in Operational Research from the London School of Economics and Political Science and an MBA in Finance & International Business from the University of Chicago. He currently serves on the Risk Governance Task Force of the CFA Institute, and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, holds a certificate in Actuarial Techniques from the Institute of Actuaries (U.K.) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). |

Fred Tavan, AVP, Reinsurance Pricing & Treaties, FSA, FCIA Canada Life Reinsurance Fred Tavan is an assistant vice president at Canada Life Reinsurance with primary responsibilities in pricing and risk management. He was recently a key player in developing a comprehensive ERM program for Canada Life, a multinational insurance institution. Throughout his career, Fred has held positions of increasing responsibility at two of Canada's largest insurance companies as well as one of the world's leading consulting companies. He has managed projects in risk management, mergers and acquisitions, capital management, strategic planning, pricing, valuation, and financial reporting. Fred 's experience spans various life and health lines of business, including individual, group, wealth management, and reinsurance. Fred leads the Risk Metrics group of the SOA 's Risk Management Task Force and is a member of the SOA 's Risk Management Section Council. A graduate of the University of Waterloo in both Computer Engineering and Actuarial Science, Fred is also a Fellow of both the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
